5-7TH AUG :: BRANDS HATCH

The circuit was initially used for grass-track racing prior to being surfaced in 1950 and rapidly being transformed into one of the country's leading circuits. Brands Hatch graduated to host the first of its 14 F1 World Championship Grand Prix races in 1964. Subsequently it has hosted the inaugural round of the A1GP 'World Cup of Motorsport' Series. On two wheels the World Superbike Championship has attracted enormous crowds to Kent.

JAMES WEBB RACE REPORT:

DOUBLE VICTORY AT HOME CIRCUIT FOR JAMES WEBB

BRANDS HATCH

05/06/07 AUGUST 2011

James Webb #66

FREE PRACTICE:

I had been up all night with sickness and an extremely upset tummy, I felt so rough.  I went out for free practice not really knowing how long I would last on the track.  I managed to go 3rd fastest but knew I could do better, the bike felt good it was just me.

QUALIFYING:

After curling up and managing to get a couple of hours sleep, I went out for qualifying. The weather was good and with the bike feeling excellent and comfortable underneath me I just kept going.  I don’t quite know how I did it but I ended up in Pole position and was very pleased with this result.

RACE:

I got off to a good start and knew that I just had to get into a rhythm, keep my head down and just ride, I love the indy circuit at Brands and luckily know the circuit quite well, by the last lap I could feel the sweat pouring from my head and was so relieved to see the chequered flag and absolutely ecstatic to win the race, it was fantastic.

I went straight home and straight to bed and after sleeping from 6.30pm to 9.00am I felt a lot better for Saturday.

FREE PRACTICE – GP CIRCUIT:

Feeling better than I had done I went out with a more positive and better feeling, again the bike felt so good.  I was running 2nd for most of the session, pulling in for a refreshing drink I thought I would go out and give it a shot.  I managed to go fastest and was extremely pleased with the feeling I had for the bike on the GP Circuit.  Once again shot off home to get my head down and prepare for Sunday’s Race.

RACE:

Fantastic race, got off to a good start and had a good 4 / 5 bike battle for the first half of the race.  I knew I had to get to the front and not let any one break away, so I got my head down and worked hard to get through.  I had a great battle with Peter Ward over the last two laps and just managed to get past him to take the chequered flag.  Oh Boy what a feeling – it was FANTASTIC!!!!

THE DOUBLE – HOW FAB WAS THAT

THANKS TO EVERYONE, THE TEAM, MY BROTHER, MY FAMILY AND ALL THE FRIENDS AND FANS THAT WENT TO BRANDS TO SUPPORT ME AT THE WEEKEND.      THANKS!!!!!
