27-29TH AUG :: CADWELL PK

|
Nestling in undulating Lincolnshire countryside this picturesque circuit always attracts the biggest crowd of the Superbike year. It is a tight, narrow and twisting circuit which offers riders little room for error. It has real character, with the bikes momentarily airborne as they crest the 'Mountain' section. Over the years, it has seen many of motorcycle racing's greats in action, and continues to provide one of the major challenges for the competitors in the fight for the British crown. |
JAMES WEBB RACE REPORT:
CADWELL PARK
27/28/29 AUGUST 2011
JAMES WEBB #66
PRACTICE: Cadwell is one of my favourite circuits and I felt confident the track was a bit damp in places but I was only getting settled in anyway. I ended up in P2 but was feeling really good and had some big changes to make and a lot more to come from myself.
QUALIFYING: I held back in pit lane to get a clear track and went for it from the start. The changes made a big difference that Simon did and I felt I could push hard. I strung some good laps together and ended up on Pole. I felt so confident on the bike and knew I could pull it out of the bag in the race.
We went out in the evening when we got back to the hotel and had the best Indian ever in the town where we were staying. I thought it was so nice to have a nice chilled out evening watching my little brother race in Indianapolis on the television at the hotel with dad and Pat Walch and the Dunlop boys.
WARM UP: Once again I held back in pit lane to get a clear track but as I pulled onto the track Alex Gault and Pete Ward pulled out behind me – I waved them past me but they did not come past. I pulled into pit lane to let them past. I then pushed on fairly hard to do one quick lap to see if the settings that Simon and I had adjusted the bike to would work and it felt good. I went to P1 and felt very confident, the bike was even better than ever, looking forward to the race.
RACE: My race got cancelled because of a fatal accident in the Superstock 600 class where Ben Gaultry lost his life. My thoughts were very much with his family on the way home. R.I.P. Ben.
